Amazon’s latest $220 billion 2026 capex guidance, raised $20 billion in its July 30 Q2 earnings release from the prior $200 billion target, reflects sustained hyperscale AI infrastructure demand. CEO Andy Jassy highlighted that even this level leaves capacity short of contracted needs through 2027, with roughly 80 percent of spend tied to data centers, custom silicon, memory, and networking. Trailing-twelve-month property and equipment purchases reached $169 billion, up 64 percent year-over-year, while AWS revenue accelerated 37 percent. Higher memory-chip prices drove the upward revision; free cash flow turned negative as a result. Traders are watching Q3 results and any further commentary on utilization rates or supplier cost trends for signals on whether final 2026 outlays exceed the updated plan.
