**Traders assign an 80% probability to "No" on Maduro being convicted on every count because the U.S. drug-trafficking and narco-terrorism case remains in early pretrial stages with substantial procedural barriers ahead.** Maduro and his wife, captured in a January 2026 U.S. military operation, have pleaded not guilty and filed motions seeking dismissal on head-of-state immunity grounds, with oral arguments scheduled for November 17, 2026. A June 2027 trial date was set jointly by prosecutors and defense, leaving ample time for further motions, jurisdictional challenges, potential plea negotiations, or outcomes short of unanimous convictions on all four counts. The extended timeline through the end of 2027, combined with sovereign immunity arguments and the rarity of full convictions in such cases, underpins the current market consensus reflected in the pricing.
