Israeli and Lebanese officials signed a June 2026 U.S.-brokered framework agreement establishing pilot zones north and south of the Litani River for limited, conditions-based IDF redeployments tied to Lebanese Armed Forces deployment and verifiable Hezbollah disarmament in those sectors. Broader withdrawals from the expanded southern security zone remain linked to the LAF demonstrating effective control and preventing Hezbollah rearmament or infrastructure rebuilding, rather than fixed timelines. As of mid-September 2026, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated operations continue to clear Hezbollah south of the Litani, with forward defensive positions maintained inside Lebanese territory until LAF capabilities improve substantially. Ongoing Israeli artillery and air strikes in areas such as Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Aita al-Jabal, combined with Hezbollah and Lebanese calls for full withdrawal, underscore the linkage between security verification and any further pullbacks ahead of planned October talks in Rome.

For this market to resolve to "Yes" it is sufficient that Israel announces its ground forces have withdrawn from all Lebanese territory beyond the Litani River, regardless of if some specified territory remains under their control or ground incursions by Israeli forces continue. However, an announcement of a planned or future withdrawal will not suffice.
The primary resolution source for this market will be information from the Israeli government, however an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting confirming that Israel has withdrawn may also be used.
