The longstanding single-tournament record of 13 goals, set by Just Fontaine in 1958, has stood untouched for decades as no player has exceeded eight goals since the 1970s amid tighter defenses and balanced competition. Recent World Cups confirm this pattern, with Kylian Mbappé and Cristiano Ronaldo topping out at eight goals each. The 2026 expanded field increases total matches but does not alter the core challenge of sustaining elite scoring across a maximum seven or eight games for any advancing side. Trader consensus at 95.7% on No reflects these structural and historical barriers. Only an unprecedented hot streak by a generational talent on a deep run could shift the outcome, though such alignment remains rare.

This market will resolve “Yes” if any player scores 14 or more goals across the entire 2026 FIFA World Cup, including extra time. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
Penalty shootout goals do not count toward a player's total.
If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined whether the record was broken within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “No”.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
