Wu Hsiu-hua holds the strongest trader consensus in the Taitung County Magistrate race, driven by her December 2025 nomination as the Kuomintang candidate to succeed the term-limited incumbent. As current county council speaker, she benefits from established local networks and party organization ahead of the November 28, 2026, vote. Chen Ying, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee and sitting legislator, trails significantly despite recent campaign momentum from former President Tsai Ing-wen's August 2026 acceptance of an invitation to serve as campaign chair. Other potential contenders, including independents, register minimal market interest following withdrawals that have narrowed the contest primarily to the two major-party candidates. These factors reflect the skin-in-the-game assessment of Wu's structural advantages in voter base and timing.
