Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model consensus indicate a persistent marine layer and approaching Pacific trough will likely cap San Francisco highs near 67°F on September 3, with drizzle chances supporting the tight clustering around 68–71°F outcomes. Onshore flow from the cold California Current and coastal upwelling maintains the layer’s cooling effect, while a deeper inversion or delayed clearing could allow modest warming into the low 70s; conversely, stronger southerly winds or thicker stratus would suppress readings toward 66°F. Historical September averages near 70°F provide context, but the current synoptic setup favors below-normal values, with traders weighting the latest model runs showing limited afternoon mixing. Updated NWS briefings and morning soundings will refine these thresholds ahead of resolution.
