Goldman Sachs holds a commanding lead in the market-implied odds for lead underwriter on OpenAI’s anticipated IPO because of its dominant track record in large technology listings and recent win as lead left on the SpaceX offering. Both Goldman and Morgan Stanley were selected as the primary book runners for the AI company’s confidential filing process, which began surfacing in mid-2026 reporting, yet the prestigious lead-left designation remains contested. Traders appear to favor Goldman due to its broader market share in AI-related IPOs and ability to manage separate deal teams amid parallel work on rival Anthropic. Morgan Stanley retains meaningful support as the clear second choice, while other banks trail far behind given their limited roles in the current setup. Upcoming catalysts include any public confirmation of the S-1 or final underwriting hierarchy ahead of a potential late-2026 or 2027 listing window.

If no IPO occurs by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or OpenAI completes an initial public offering without a designated lead underwriter, this market will resolve to “Other.”
If multiple banks are identified as lead underwriters, this market will resolve according to the primary lead underwriter. If the hierarchy between them is unclear, this market will resolve once it is conclusively evident which bank is the primary lead underwriter, for example, through the order in which the banks are listed in the underwriting section of OpenAI's final initial public offering prospectus, once released.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official disclosures from OpenAI. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
