Persistent high pressure over central Texas and light southerly flow are sustaining hot, humid conditions across Austin, with National Weather Service and private-model consensus pointing to a Thursday high in the upper 90s. Forecast soundings show ample boundary-layer moisture keeping heat-index values near 107 °F even if actual air temperature peaks near 98 °F, while partly cloudy skies and only isolated afternoon showers limit daytime cooling. This setup aligns with the market’s leading 98–99 °F bin (47.5 % implied probability) and supports the secondary 100–101 °F outcome (32.5 %) if mixing is stronger than expected. Updated model runs and the 6 a.m. CDT NWS forecast discussion on September 9 will be the next key data points for traders.
