Persistent northeast winds and a stable cool air mass are anchoring Chicago temperatures in the mid-60s for September 23, aligning with National Weather Service forecasts of highs near 64–66°F. This pattern, featuring onshore flow from Lake Michigan and limited mixing, has suppressed readings several degrees below the late-September climatological average of roughly 73°F. Recent model runs show little day-to-day variability through midweek, with only modest afternoon warming possible if skies clear more than expected. Trader consensus therefore concentrates on the 64–65°F and 66–67°F bins, reflecting high confidence in official guidance while acknowledging minor uncertainty from cloud cover or wind shifts that could nudge the daily maximum by a degree or two.
