Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance indicates mostly sunny skies and light easterly winds over Denver on September 2, supporting daytime heating that should push the official high into the upper 80s. With the city’s 5,280-foot elevation and typically low humidity in early September, surface temperatures respond strongly to insolation and any subtle downslope flow, creating the narrow spread between 88–91 °F bins that dominate trader positioning. Historical climatology places the September 2 average near 84 °F, so current conditions represent a modest warm anomaly consistent with the market’s 38.5 % weight on 90–91 °F and secondary 29 % on 88–89 °F. Low precipitation odds further reduce cooling from cloud cover or evaporative effects. The next high-resolution model cycles and any adjustments to boundary-layer mixing will be the key variables that could shift the final observed maximum before resolution.
