Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Chicago on August 31 shows a warm southwesterly flow advecting a moist air mass, supporting daytime highs in the upper 80s to low 90s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. This positions the 90-91°F bin as the market favorite at 35% implied probability, followed closely by 88-89°F, as variable cloud cover and any light shower timing could trim peak solar heating by 1-3°F. Ensemble spreads from GFS and ECMWF runs reflect this narrow range, with urban heat island effects and typical late-summer humidity providing a modest boost over rural baselines. Traders are watching the next NWS forecast updates and afternoon model runs through August 30 for any shift in cloud or wind trends ahead of resolution.
