Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicates Houston's overnight low for August 31 will likely fall in the upper 70s under mostly clear skies and light southerly flow, consistent with the region's subtropical humidity and typical late-summer diurnal range of 15–20°F. Persistent high pressure and Gulf moisture limit radiative cooling while preventing significant cold advection, keeping minimums well above historical extremes near 63°F. Trader sentiment remains balanced across bins because small differences in cloud cover, boundary-layer mixing, or model timing of any weak moisture return can shift the observed low by a few degrees; ensembles show modest spread around 79°F with limited downside risk absent an unexpected frontal passage.
