This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Los Angeles International Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 27 Aug '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=klax This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button. If NOAA data is unavailable or missing for the observation period, Weather Underground will be used as the secondary resolution source. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Coastal marine influences and a moderating sea breeze are the dominant factors keeping trader consensus centered on 84–87°F for the official Los Angeles high on August 27.** Persistent high pressure over the Southwest has sustained a regional heat wave with inland valleys reaching 100°F+, yet the marine layer and onshore flow from the Pacific are expected to cap coastal and near-coastal readings. Official guidance from NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard and model runs show LAX and downtown-adjacent stations peaking in the low-to-mid 80s, with highs forecast near 83–95°F depending on the exact site and timing of any afternoon clearing. Recent model consensus and the 24–48 hour trend have narrowed expectations around the 84–87°F bins (collectively ~70% implied probability), as stronger-than-normal southwest winds and lingering low clouds limit full daytime heating. Historical August 27 averages near 77°F provide context, but the current pattern deviates upward while remaining well below inland extremes. Key variables that could shift outcomes include any delay in marine-layer burn-off or a stronger offshore component, both of which NWS updates will clarify before resolution. Traders are weighting the skin-in-the-game balance between these coastal-moderation dynamics and residual heat-wave momentum.
