Byron Donalds holds a commanding lead in recent Florida Republican gubernatorial primary polling with Trump endorsement and far higher fundraising, while James Fishback remains a lower-profile challenger focused on issues such as private equity restrictions on housing. Fishback’s single-digit or low double-digit support in most surveys reflects limited statewide name recognition and weaker campaign infrastructure relative to established figures like Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and former Speaker Paul Renner. A July court ruling dismissing residency challenges kept Fishback on the August 18 ballot, yet produced no sustained polling gains. With early voting underway and the primary imminent, trader consensus assigns the highest probability to Fishback finishing below 15 percent, consistent with historical patterns for similarly positioned late entrants in Florida Republican contests.
