This market will resolve to “Yes” if the Republican party ceases to hold a majority in the United States House of Representatives at any point before polls open for the 2026 U.S. House of Representatives elections scheduled for November 3, 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A majority in the House of Representatives means holding more than half of the currently seated voting members of the U.S. House at that time, excluding vacant seats. Ties do not qualify as a majority. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the United States House of Representatives Press Gallery (https://pressgallery.house.gov/member-data/party-breakdown); however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Republicans currently maintain a narrow House majority of 218-212 with one independent and four vacancies as of August 2026, following the 2024 elections. Trader consensus at 96.9% for no loss before November 3, 2026, reflects the limited window remaining, recent special election outcomes that preserved the balance, and the structural difficulty of netting enough flips through vacancies or resignations to cross the 218-seat threshold. Multiple Democratic-held seats face upcoming specials in safely partisan districts, while Republican retirements and open seats primarily influence the general election rather than interim control. A shift would require an unusually rapid series of member departures and opposing-party gains in special elections, events that have not materialized at scale in prior cycles and face tight timing constraints.
