These absences have shifted focus to veterans like Neymar, who earned inclusion in the recent 55-man provisional list and now appears on track for the final 26-man roster due to his fitness progress and leadership value. Recent qualifying form, head-to-head reliability in CONMEBOL matches, and positional needs in attack and defense further shape selections, with the official squad announcement imminent on May 18 expected to clarify remaining spots amid ongoing roster adjustments.
