US-brokered direct talks between Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors opened in Washington on April 14, 2026, marking the first high-level bilateral engagement since 1993 amid renewed Israel-Hezbollah fighting. Subsequent trilateral rounds, including one with military officials and another at the White House, produced a framework for negotiations on border security, sovereignty recognition, and a conditional ceasefire. Multiple meetings occurred through May and into early June, with participants agreeing on pilot security zones and steps toward a lasting agreement contingent on Hezbollah's withdrawal. Trader consensus reflects these confirmed diplomatic contacts and the ongoing US-mediated process within the market window.
