**Recent price softening in the Pokémon TCG secondary market for the Mega Dragonite ex Special Illustration Rare (#290/217) from the Ascended Heroes set is driving trader sentiment toward the "Under" side of the $668.24 threshold.** As of late August 2026, raw copies have traded in the $600–$718 range with a market price hovering near $661, reflecting a clear 7–17% decline over the past 30 days across multiple tracking platforms. This downward trajectory stems from cooling demand after the set’s initial release hype, elevated supply of the chase card, and broader softness in premium illustration rares. High transaction volume and recent sales data reinforce the momentum, while the absence of major upcoming catalysts—such as new tournament play or promotional tie-ins—leaves little immediate support for a rebound before the September 30 resolution. Traders appear to view the current levels as unsustainable given these supply-and-demand dynamics.
