The Berlin state election on September 20, 2026 delivered AfD approximately 16.3 percent of the vote and 29 seats in the 158-seat Abgeordnetenhaus, a substantial gain from its 9.1 percent and 17 seats in 2023. Late polls consistently projected 17–18 percent support for the party, driven by voter concerns over immigration, housing costs, and economic conditions that boosted its performance particularly in eastern districts. This placed AfD third behind Die Linke (25.7 percent) and the CDU (18.8 percent), with all other parties refusing cooperation under the prevailing firewall. The market's heavy weighting toward 29–31 seats reflects the close alignment between final projections and the certified vote count. Minor adjustments remain possible only through official seat allocation or verification processes.
