Recent forecasts from the Met Office and other models indicate a maximum temperature near 20°C in London on September 17, driven by mild westerly flow, increasing afternoon cloud, and a chance of light showers that could limit peak warming. Historical September averages hover around 19–21°C, providing a climatological baseline consistent with current guidance. Trader positioning, with 21°C leading at 53.5% implied probability ahead of 20°C at 27.5%, reflects residual model spread and potential for localized variations at official recording sites, while lower odds on 22°C or cooler outcomes align with the narrow expected range and limited intensification potential before resolution. Updated model runs and official briefings tomorrow morning represent the key near-term data points that could shift these probabilities.
