This market will resolve according to the individual who leads the next White House press briefing following the creation of this market. Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. If the individual scheduled or announced to give a briefing does not ultimately lead it, this market will resolve to the individual who does. An individual who appears at a qualifying briefing only as a guest, or who speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing, will not qualify. For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. Any such briefing will qualify, even if the individual leading it has not been formally announced as the Press Secretary or as an acting or interim Press Secretary. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as the individual leads the briefing. Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify. If two or more individuals jointly lead the next qualifying briefing, this market will resolve to the individual who speaks first. If no qualifying White House press briefing occurs by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. The vacancy in the White House press secretary role since Karoline Leavitt’s departure at the end of August 2026 drives the compressed probabilities across numerous administration figures. President Trump has delayed a permanent appointment and indicated that Cabinet secretaries and senior officials will continue handling briefings on a rotating basis, with recent examples including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This interim approach, combined with no public shortlist or scheduling confirmation for the next session, keeps implied probabilities tightly clustered as traders assess who will next take the podium. An official announcement of the successor, a specific briefing schedule naming one individual, or a shift in White House communications assignments could rapidly consolidate volume on fewer names.
