Imelda Castro Castro leads trader pricing for the 2027 Sinaloa gubernatorial election at 42.5 percent, ahead of María Teresa Guerra Ochoa and lower-probability contenders, reflecting Morena’s strong state position and its push for female nominees. The May 2026 resignation of incumbent Rubén Rocha Moya following U.S. drug-trafficking charges removed several aligned figures from contention and intensified the internal nomination race. Recent polling shows Castro ahead in Morena preference surveys, while cartel-related violence and federal scrutiny continue to shape candidate viability and opposition strategies. The multi-candidate field and unresolved party selection process keep probabilities fluid until formal nominations and campaign developments narrow the field.
