Recent forecast model runs from the National Weather Service and NOAA show considerable uncertainty in overnight low temperatures for Chicago on September 14, with ensembles splitting between a cooler air mass advecting from the north and lingering warmer, humid conditions. This bifurcation underpins the near-even market-implied odds on sub-50°F versus 68°F-plus outcomes, while mid-range buckets reflect lower trader conviction. Key variables include the precise timing of any frontal passage, cloud cover affecting radiational cooling, and wind speeds that could limit temperature drops. Updated model guidance and local observations tomorrow morning will likely resolve much of the spread before market resolution.
