Recent National Weather Service forecasts and model consensus indicate mostly clear skies and light southeast winds for Austin overnight into September 18, supporting a minimum temperature near 73–76°F under high pressure. Radiational cooling under these conditions, combined with dew points in the low-to-mid 70s and minimal cloud cover, drives the tight clustering of market-implied probabilities around the 70–77°F bins. Subtle differences in forecast guidance—such as slight variations in wind speeds or residual moisture—create the near-even odds between adjacent ranges, as traders weigh the potential for marginally stronger cooling versus limited mixing. Updated model runs and local observations ahead of sunset on the 17th will refine these thresholds.
