Recent forecast models from the National Weather Service and other sources project mid-90s highs for Houston on September 16, aligning with the persistent warm pattern seen in mid-September 2026 and southerly flow from the Gulf. This supports the market's elevated implied probability for 100°F or higher as traders weigh potential model spreads, reduced cloud cover, or limited afternoon convection that could allow stronger daytime heating. Historical averages near 89°F and records around 98°F provide context, while recent days near 95–96°F reinforce expectations of above-normal temperatures. Variability in steering patterns and moisture could still moderate peaks into the low-to-mid 90s, with updated runs and observations due before resolution.
