Recent forecast guidance from agencies like MetService and international models points to a southerly wind shift arriving around September 6, replacing warmer northwesterlies with cooler maritime air and increasing cloud cover plus light rain chances. This pattern typically caps daytime maxima near 14–16°C in Wellington, consistent with historical September variability where southerly changes suppress temperatures below seasonal averages of 13–15°C. Updated model runs showing 40–80% precipitation probability and gusty conditions reinforce the market-implied odds favoring 15°C, while lower probabilities for 17°C or above reflect limited warming potential before the front passes. Traders monitor the next official briefing for any model consensus shifts on peak timing.
