Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $66.40 per ounce on August 29 after a sharp reversal from two-month highs above $70 earlier in the week. Hawkish comments from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole—highlighting persistent inflation above the 2% target and the potential need for further policy tightening—lifted two-year Treasury yields and supported the dollar, pressuring the metal lower. Traders are pricing elevated odds of a September rate hike amid July core PCE data showing 3.7% year-over-year growth. Offsetting this, structural deficits of roughly 46 million ounces are projected for 2026 alongside robust industrial demand from solar, EVs, and electronics. The week of August 31 begins amid this macro uncertainty, with upcoming labor and inflation releases likely to influence near-term price action and market-implied odds.
