**Édouard Philippe holds a clear lead in trader consensus for the 2027 French presidential race due to his stronger polling among centrist and center-right voters.** Recent surveys from September 2026 place him at 14-19% in first-round scenarios, ahead of Gabriel Attal, who registers lower support in the 7-15% range when both compete. Philippe benefits from his experience as a former prime minister, local base as mayor of Le Havre, and efforts to aggregate broader backing from Horizons and moderate right figures. Attal, the Renaissance leader and former prime minister, positions himself on renewal and European integration but faces perceptions of closer ties to the outgoing Macron record. Philippe’s recent calls for unity talks with Attal, Bruno Retailleau, and others ahead of November meetings underscore the fragmentation risk for the “bloc central,” while far-right candidates continue to dominate first-round polling. These dynamics sustain Philippe’s favored status in the market ahead of the April 2027 vote.
