Ann Kao, the incumbent Hsinchu City mayor running as an independent, holds an 87.5% implied probability in the market due to her strong polling lead, incumbency advantage, and the Kuomintang's decision not to field a candidate under its opposition coordination agreement. She was reinstated in December 2025 after acquittal on major corruption charges that had led to her suspension from mid-2024. The Democratic Progressive Party's nominee, Chuang Ching-cheng, trails at 7.0% amid limited recent momentum, while independent challenger Ho Chih-yung sits at 0.7% despite his announcement. Candidate registration opens August 31 for the November vote, with multiple low-probability entrants listed at 50% reflecting uncertainty over final field and any late shifts in opposition unity or voter turnout.
