Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a shift to northeasterly flow over Chicago this weekend, moderating temperatures after several days of 90s highs and 70s lows. Forecasts for the September 6 minimum center on the mid-60s°F range, consistent with onshore flow from Lake Michigan and reduced humidity under partly cloudy skies. This places the outcome near or slightly above the 1991–2020 climatological average low of 62.6°F for the date. Market-implied probabilities cluster tightly between 62–71°F bins because small differences in overnight cloud cover, wind speed, or lake-effect moderation can shift the exact reading by a degree or two, while the low odds on 80°F+ or sub-62°F reflect limited support for extreme deviations from the consensus forecast. Updated model runs and official National Weather Service briefings ahead of the date remain the key near-term catalysts.
