**Current forecasts from the National Weather Service and other models indicate a low temperature in the upper 70s°F (around 79°F) for Houston on September 9, 2026, consistent with recent overnight readings of 75–79°F amid persistent heat and humidity.** This places the outcome near the middle ranges (78–81°F) that hold roughly 25% implied probability each. Normal early-September lows average near 74°F, so the projected value reflects above-normal warmth driven by Gulf moisture, light southerly winds, and limited overnight radiative cooling under partly cloudy skies with a 40–50% chance of afternoon/evening thunderstorms. The elevated 34.5% odds on 71°F or below and 29.5% on 90°F or higher reflect genuine forecast uncertainty this far ahead: model runs can shift with incoming data on steering patterns, cloud cover, or unexpected moisture. A stronger-than-expected cold front or unusually clear, dry air mass would be required for a sub-72°F low—historically uncommon without significant synoptic changes—while persistently high humidity and overcast conditions could limit cooling and push the minimum into the upper 80s. El Niño conditions, currently strengthening, favor suppressed tropical activity but introduce modest uncertainty in regional temperature anomalies. Updated model guidance and NWS briefings over the next 48 hours remain the key catalysts that could narrow the closely matched probabilities.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the lowest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=khou
This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button.
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F.
This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
