Chen Chen-chung, the Kuomintang nominee and current township head, leads trader consensus in the November 28, 2026 Penghu County magistrate race due to party backing and early positioning ahead of the DPP incumbent's potential re-election bid. Multiple candidates, including independents who previously held KMT ties, create vote-splitting risks that keep implied probabilities tight around the frontrunner while most other names trade near even odds. Recent party approvals and coordination discussions between KMT and non-DPP contenders have stabilized the leader's edge, though Penghu’s small electorate and local issues such as tourism, fisheries, and cross-strait relations could shift sentiment. Key upcoming catalysts include any final candidate consolidations, joint polls, or late campaign developments that might consolidate anti-DPP support or boost challengers like Wu Shu-chin.
