Recent comments in an August 2026 interview and a July primetime address on election integrity have heightened attention, though prior executive orders on voter rules and citizenship verification have faced court blocks limiting presidential authority. Constitutional constraints assign primary control over elections to states and Congress, with emergency powers offering narrow tools focused mainly on sanctions or foreign entities rather than direct federalization of voting procedures. Traders monitor legislative progress on election bills and any new statements or actions before November as key variables influencing the implied probability of such a declaration.
