Forecast models and official Chongqing meteorological guidance point to a peak temperature of 35–37°C on September 9 as the most probable outcome, reflecting the final day of a late-summer heat episode before a cold front arrives overnight. Persistent subtropical high pressure has maintained clear to partly cloudy skies with light southerly flow, limiting cloud cover and supporting strong daytime heating across the Sichuan Basin. Ensemble runs show limited spread around these values, consistent with recent observations of 36–38°C highs on September 8. Light showers possible in western and northern districts may cap extreme readings above 38°C, while the basin’s urban heat island effect supports the 36°C bin favored by traders. Updated NMC guidance expected later today could refine land-sea breeze and precipitation timing ahead of market resolution.
