The open Hobart Lord Mayor contest, following Anna Reynolds’ decision not to seek re-election and her August 2026 departure, has produced a crowded field of sitting councillors and independents under Tasmania’s single transferable vote system. Trader prices cluster tightly among leading contenders including Marti Zucco, Ryan Posselt, Bill Harvey, Mike Dutta, Louise Bloomfield and John Kelly because no candidate holds a dominant base and preferences are expected to decide the outcome. Recent attention has centered on the acting arrangements for Deputy Lord Mayor Zelinda Sherlock, questions over allowances during the transition, and the absence of fresh polling since an earlier EMRS survey that included Reynolds. With voting by post in October, minor shifts in preference flows or late endorsements could quickly separate the pack in this low-profile, multi-candidate race.
