**Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance for Houston on September 3, 2026, centers on a high near 89–94 °F amid partly sunny skies and a 40–50% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms.** This range aligns closely with the market’s leading bins (88–89 °F at 37.5%, 86–87 °F at 25.5%, 90–91 °F at 20%), reflecting trader consensus that modest cloud cover and scattered convection will prevent the extreme heat seen in drier analogs. Houston’s subtropical September climate features high Gulf moisture, typical dew points in the mid-70s, and afternoon instability that often caps daytime maxima through evaporative cooling and reduced insolation. Current conditions include a flood watch, elevated heat indices above 100 °F, and southerly flow that maintains humidity while steering weak disturbances across the area. These factors favor a peak in the upper 80s to low 90s rather than the mid-90s-plus readings possible under clear, subsident conditions. Model agreement is moderate; NWS point forecasts lean toward 92–94 °F while some private guidance trims that to the upper 80s once convective initiation is factored in. With resolution only two days away, the next 12–24 hours of updated model runs and morning soundings will likely refine the exact bin, keeping the 86–91 °F cluster dominant unless a stronger ridge builds or convection is suppressed.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=khou
This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button.
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F.
This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
