Trader consensus on Malta's snap general election turnout favors below 85% at 48.5%, reflecting a historical downward trend—2022 marked a 60-year low of 85.6% amid Labour Party dominance—and current polls showing Prime Minister Robert Abela's PL holding a stable 10.5-point lead over the Nationalist Party as of early May surveys. The short five-week campaign, launched April 27 citing geopolitical tensions and rising energy costs from the Iran conflict, has seen routine rallies and populist pledges on healthcare, Gozo development, and bills without galvanizing opposition enthusiasm or closing the gap. Steady undecided voters and a perceived muted contest position 85-90% as the next likely band ahead of the May 30 vote.
