South Korea ETF (EWY) trades near $175–177 as of mid-September 2026, reflecting a sharp pullback from earlier-month levels above $190 amid heavy foreign selling and KOSPI volatility. The fund’s performance remains anchored in its roughly 45% combined weighting in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which benefit from sustained AI-driven memory demand and a semiconductor supercycle that prompted multiple 2026 GDP upgrades to 3–3.5%. Recent daily swings of 5–7% track global tech sentiment, Treasury yields, and the Korean won, while industrial production and export data continue to show strength. Traders are watching the upcoming FOMC decision and any further clarity on Korean chip investment plans for near-term price resolution.
