**National Weather Service forecasts position an 80–82°F high for Chicago on September 9 as the most probable outcome, with showers and thunderstorms expected mainly in the morning before partial clearing allows daytime heating.** Recent model consensus and NWS guidance cite west-to-northwest winds shifting behind a passing front, moderating Lake Michigan influences while limiting full cooling on what began as a humid, post-heatwave day. Early September’s abnormally warm stretch (multiple 90°F+ readings at O’Hare) has given way to this transitional pattern, keeping the 80–81°F bin at 46% implied probability and the adjacent 78–79°F and 82–83°F ranges as secondary clusters. Storm timing and cloud cover introduce modest uncertainty in peak readings, consistent with typical late-summer variability in the region where historical September 9 highs average near 79°F. Updated NWS briefings and afternoon model runs will provide the next key data points before resolution.
