NWS forecasts for Austin indicate an overnight low near 76–77°F on September 9–10 under mostly clear skies and light southerly flow, aligning with the market’s tight clustering of implied probabilities around 74–77°F. Persistent warm, humid air with dew points in the mid-70s limits nocturnal radiative cooling, while southerly winds advect additional warmth and suppress stronger temperature drops. Recent days with highs near 100°F have maintained elevated boundary-layer temperatures, reducing the likelihood of falling to the historical September average low near 70°F. Model consensus shows limited spread in minimum temperature guidance, though minor variations in cloud cover or wind could shift the exact low by 1–2°F. Traders appear to weigh these stable warm conditions against the small but non-zero chance of enhanced cooling.
