Recent National Weather Service and private model runs show San Francisco’s September 11 high likely falling between 68–77 °F, with marine-layer strengthening and onshore flow the dominant variables. A recent heat surge peaking near 85 °F on September 8–9 is giving way to cooler Pacific air, but the precise timing of the marine intrusion and cloud cover will determine whether afternoon temperatures reach the mid-70s or stay in the upper 60s. Ensemble spread remains wide because small differences in wind direction and low-cloud persistence can shift the daily maximum by 4–6 °F. Traders are therefore distributing probability across several adjacent bins rather than concentrating on a single outcome, reflecting genuine forecast uncertainty ahead of the next NWS update.
