Incumbent Prime Minister Robert Abela commands 90.5% trader consensus as the next Prime Minister of Malta, driven by Labour Party's polling lead of around 51% and incumbency advantages in the snap general election set for May 30. Abela announced the early vote on April 27 amid geopolitical tensions, citing needs for stability, and has since filed nominations in key districts, held mass meetings pledging infrastructure like Manoel Island development, and emphasized costed promises backed by economic resilience. Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg trails at 10.1%, focusing campaign attacks on corruption and accountability, with debates pending. Upsets could arise from scandals, voter turnout shifts in undecideds, or strong opposition momentum in final weeks.
