NY-17 remains a competitive Hudson Valley swing district where incumbent Republican Mike Lawler seeks reelection against Democrat Cait Conley, who secured the nomination in the June 2026 primary. Traders price the Democratic outcome at 66% largely because the seat’s narrow partisan balance and historical closeness make it a prime target in the national midterm environment, where the out-party often gains ground. Conley’s background as a West Point graduate and national security veteran with multiple deployments has been highlighted by Democrats for broad appeal in suburban and independent-heavy areas. Recent July polling showed Lawler holding a slim edge, yet prediction market pricing reflects ongoing uncertainty around turnout patterns, fundraising trajectories, and any late shifts in national conditions ahead of the November 3 general election.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
