The recent departure of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt without a confirmed successor has created uncertainty over the next briefing, with interim appearances by Vice President JD Vance and other officials amid ongoing U.S.-Iran tensions. Multiple cabinet members and aides, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, have conducted briefings in prior months, reflecting the administration's pattern of rotating spokespeople rather than relying on a single podium voice. Trader consensus remains evenly split across numerous named and unnamed options because no timeline or selection process for a permanent replacement has been announced, and upcoming events such as midterm-related travel or diplomatic developments could determine who steps forward. A formal nomination, executive scheduling update, or shift in foreign policy priorities could quickly consolidate probabilities around one individual.

Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. If the individual scheduled or announced to give a briefing does not ultimately lead it, this market will resolve to the individual who does. An individual who appears at a qualifying briefing only as a guest, or who speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing, will not qualify.
For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. Any such briefing will qualify, even if the individual leading it has not been formally announced as the Press Secretary or as an acting or interim Press Secretary. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as the individual leads the briefing.
Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify.
If two or more individuals jointly lead the next qualifying briefing, this market will resolve to the individual who speaks first.
If no qualifying White House press briefing occurs by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting.
