Recent stability in the U.S. services sector, with the July ISM Services PMI at 54.1 following June’s 54.0, anchors trader consensus for the August reading near 53–55. Sustained business activity and new orders, bolstered by domestic demand and lingering World Cup effects, support moderate expansion, while mixed employment signals and elevated prices paid introduce offsetting pressures from tariffs and commodities. With the August report due September 3 and no major data releases or policy shifts intervening, the closely matched probabilities on the 53.0–53.9 and 54.0–54.9 buckets reflect uncertainty over whether activity will hold steady or ease after recent event-driven gains. Market-implied odds thus embed the sector’s 12-month average near 53 as the base rate amid resilient yet non-accelerating growth.
