Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance indicates Chicago's overnight low on September 4 will likely settle in the lower 70s under a lingering warm, humid air mass with southwesterly flow and elevated dew points. Persistent cloud cover and scattered thunderstorm activity could limit radiational cooling, while any clearer breaks or lighter winds might allow modest drops. This setup sits well above the 1991–2020 average low of 63°F for the date and explains why market-implied odds remain distributed across mid-70s bins rather than heavily favoring extremes. Traders appear to weigh the narrow window for forecast shifts before resolution against the strong consensus for above-normal minima.
