Robert Abela holds a commanding lead in trader assessments for Malta’s next prime minister, driven by his role as incumbent heading into the snap general election scheduled for 30 May. His Labour Party maintains a substantial polling advantage over the Nationalist Party led by Alex Borg, reflecting sustained voter support for the government’s handling of economic stability and international challenges. Recent campaign launches and candidate nominations have reinforced this positioning, with Labour seeking a fourth consecutive term. Scenarios that could still shift the outcome include a sharp late swing in voter turnout, stronger-than-expected opposition momentum in key districts, or unexpected developments in the final weeks before polls close.
