Recent polling for the September 20, 2026, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag election shows the AfD holding steady near 36 percent, well ahead of the incumbent SPD at around 29 percent across multiple surveys from INSA and Infratest dimap since May. This consistent gap underpins the high trader probability that the AfD will finish first in vote share. Support for the AfD remains anchored in eastern German voting patterns, with limited movement despite the SPD’s modest gains under Minister-President Manuela Schwesig and her SPD–Left coalition. Smaller parties such as Die Linke, the CDU, and the Greens trail in single digits, narrowing potential coalition options for non-AfD forces. The race features typical final-month volatility around turnout and issue salience, yet the structural lead has shown resilience through the summer campaign.
