Katharina Pötter, the incumbent CDU Oberbürgermeisterin, holds a commanding position in the September 27 runoff after securing 42.2 percent in the September 13 first round, well ahead of Volker Bajus of the Greens at 22.3 percent and the remaining candidates. Trader consensus reflects her incumbency advantage, established local profile since 2021, and the typical consolidation of centrist and non-Green votes in the head-to-head contest. Bajus faces structural barriers in expanding beyond his base within the short campaign window. Late shifts in turnout or unforeseen local developments could still narrow the gap, though historical patterns in German municipal runoffs favor the first-round leader when the margin exceeds 15 points.
