The April 6, 2026 Supreme Court order vacated the D.C. Circuit ruling upholding Steve Bannon’s 2022 contempt of Congress conviction for defying a House January 6 committee subpoena, remanding the case to the district court where the Trump administration’s DOJ has moved to dismiss the indictment. This procedural step removes the primary legal barrier to formal exoneration through prosecutorial action rather than pardon or further appeals, with Bannon having already served his four-month sentence. As of mid-May, no dismissal order has been issued amid routine lower-court review, leaving the timeline dependent on DOJ processing and judicial confirmation. Traders monitor any scheduled hearings or filings that could finalize the outcome by key resolution dates such as June 30, while noting the absence of newer developments that might alter the current path.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if Bannon’s 2022 Contempt of Congress conviction is dismissed, overturned, vacated, or otherwise reversed by the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
A qualifying reversal requires that a United States court or other competent legal authority formally nullify the conviction itself. The vacating of appellate rulings, procedural actions toward reconsideration, or other changes which do not themselves result in the nullification of the conviction, will not alone count.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from relevant courts; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
